FlyDubai Flight 1073 diverted after an onboard struggle in which Israeli officials say the pilot stabbed his co-pilot and tried to seize the aircraft. The jet, flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv, dropped more than 17,000 feet before off-duty pilots helped stabilize it. An Iranian role has been alleged in commentary around the incident; it has not been established in public evidence.
Israeli reaction
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the pilot, an Omani national, had undergone what he described as Islamist radical indoctrination and that the episode was a terrorist attempt aimed at a flight carrying Israelis. Israeli officials have treated the incident as a terror attack. Those statements are claims by the Israeli government. The pilot’s identity has not been fully released in the accounts carried by U.S. outlets, and independent investigators have not published a finished account of motive.

US reaction
National Review reported that the aircraft plunged more than 17,000 feet and that two off-duty pilots helped recover control. RedState and the Daily Wire led with the same outline: a distress event on FlyDubai Flight 1073, a reported fight in the cockpit, and a diversion. A separate U.K. statement the same week said there were strong indications Iran played a part in a security incident at a U.S.-run air base; that statement concerned a different episode and does not by itself prove Iranian direction of the FlyDubai flight.
U.S. coverage has noted the possibility of an Iranian link because of the wider conflict and because Tehran has been accused in other recent plots. That link remains an allegation. No public indictment, forensic release, or official U.S. finding has established that Iran ordered or assisted the cockpit attack.

Just the Facts
What is on the record is narrower. A FlyDubai flight bound for Tel Aviv suffered a violent cockpit incident. Israeli officials say the pilot stabbed the co-pilot and tried to take the aircraft after Islamist indoctrination. The plane lost altitude, was stabilized with help from off-duty pilots, and diverted. Claims of terror motive and of any Iranian role should be attributed to the officials making them until investigators publish evidence.
